Lonestar SC San Antonio U8-U10 Jr. Academy Program:

MISSION STATEMENT

Lonestar SC SA Jr. Academy program aims to develop soccer players that become lifelong supporters of the game and future community leaders by encouraging Club’s CORE VALUES: Excellence, Respect, Sportsmanship, Integrity, Discipline and Leadership on and off the field.

WE ARE
Lonestar SC SA Jr. Academy is a youth development program for U8, U9, & U10 boys and girls soccer players in San Antonio.

WE DO
  • Long Term Player Development - Set expectations and goals as an organization to improve all participating children's overall skills and ability to play and enjoy the game of soccer.
  • Professional Coaches -  Qualify Coaching staff with the ability to relay information to players
  • Well Planned Practices - All sessions are selected from club’s long term player development curriculum
  • Organized Club - Well structured, planned calendar and constant communication
  • Have Fun - Youth soccer players are first and foremost Children having fun

WE HAVE
Full time Player Development Directors and professional licensed coaches evaluate players based on individual skill acquisition, decision making and small group understanding in accordance to the Lonestar SC San Antonio academy curriculum. The Lonestar SC San Antonio academy program stresses player development versus results. By focusing on developing the player and putting them in the best training situation that fits the individual helps the player, the team and success will follow.

"True player development focuses on the development of the player, not the development of the team! Up to age 12, this should be the only criteria used in designing and running youth soccer programs.”

Ron Quinn, leading contributor US Youth Soccer Programming

POOL TRAINING SYSTEM

The Lonestar SC San Antonio Academy curriculum’ utilizes pool training sessions as the best vehicle to appropriately place players into pools with other players of similar ability and therefore provide the right environment for each player.  Academy coaching staff fosters individual progress, intrinsic motivation to improve and take ownership of the player development.

The pool Training system allows the Academy coaching staff to be more effective in session planning in accordance to individual player development. Players with similar abilities develop a positive environment in which all players learn from each other.

Players are placed in an environment that allows them to develop an awareness of the “club culture” among different peers with whom they may compete in the future. It is less about the team and more about the individual player development.

NEW PLAYERS

Academy Observations are for new players looking to enhance their youth soccer experience and returning players continuing on their journey through youth soccer with Lonestar SC SA. Junior Academy observation sessions will provide the Lonestar SC San Antonio Academy Player Development Directors (PDD) and staff the opportunity to assign players into developmentally appropriate training pools and team rosters.

Team rosters can be adjusted each weekend for games in our Player Development Friendlies (SA –PDF) league for boys and girls U8, U9 and U10.

The vision of the member clubs in the SA-PDF league is to offer a player centered learning environment, allowing players to be free to develop their skills, techniques and tactical play through self-discovery and creativity.

SAN ANTONIO PLAYER DEVELOPMENT FRIENDLIES (SA PDF)

- Developmentally focused, success measured by individual player progress

- Competitive environment, with evenly match games to consistently challenge players

- Game day roster flexibility, leading to the opportunity for increased playing time each weekend, this promotes greater chance of individual development.

- Less travel with a location based scheduling, promoting a more connected program & club experience for players & families.

All players are registered through the US Club Soccer organization and have fully covered for insurance purposes. Member clubs work together to schedule & organize games, ensure a safe environment, and put the players first creating the optimal environment, holding true to the vision of the SA – PDF league.

The SA - PDF league schedules, games on a weekly basis and selects fields where each team plays. Scores and standings are not kept. Young players are naturally competitive and will be intrinsically driven to compete in the games. The outcome of each game is not a priority for the league nor is the member clubs, the process of improving the performance of each player in games is the primary concern for all involved.

SA-PDF has been in operation for under a year and member clubs have already seen how the move has greatly benefited the players. Some of the benefits from this league are:

  • Clubs are refining their player development curriculum due to the constant evaluation from their coaching personnel to their players.
  • Coaches are dedicated 100% energy on helping players' development instead of winning
  • Coaches are developing practice techniques more focus on player development
  • Coaches are more relaxing in the sidelines, observing players instead of yelling and screaming to win games
  • Players are happier after every game
  • Players are excited to go back to practicing after game day because every one
  • More camaraderie among players because every is a friend
  • Players are developing soccer techniques instead of winning at all cost
  • Parents are more relaxing and enjoying their kids play
  • Parents are cheering and clapping instead of fighting with referees and opponents
  • Game day is a great festival
